Panel Discussion on the Future Prospects of Criminal Justice in India in view of the Proposed Criminal Law Reforms

On 11th of August, 2023, Mr Amit Shah introduced the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita Bill,2023, Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Bill, 2023, and Bhartiya Sakshya Bill, 2023, replacing the Indian Penal Code, 1860, The Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, and The Indian Evidence Act, 1872, respectively with a view to provide speedy justice and create a legal system that keeps contemporary needs and aspirations of the people in mind.  

The objective the of panel discussion was to hold a meaningful, interdisciplinary and critical discussion regarding the proposed laws with our distinguished panelists, Shree MA Sayeedmember of the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission; Sr. Adv. Manjula Rao, Bombay High Court; Shree Sanjay Kumar, Former Director General of Police and Adv. Aniket Nikam, Bombay High Court, artistically moderated by Kirthana Shivkumar, Joint Convener, CRCJ.
